This is incorrect IRS info-you need to use the FMV (fair market value) at the time you donate the stock. So, for example, if you decided to donate your shares today, you would calculate the average price of .01-.03 (about .02)-that would be your basis, not your purchase price! Correct me if I am wrong-but this is in the latest IRS publ. on charitable deductions.
