Most realtime feeds only give contract volume & open interest in their daily data feed. If you use any indicators or systems which use volume or open interest, you want total volume, not contract volume. It's usually best to download your daily data from an end of day service so that you get total.

(I don't know specifically that DTN broadcasts total or contract, you would have to check with them.)
