Mr. Cheeseboy I read your Book. Very interesting, but it means nothing. I've been following these laser stocks since somewhere near 1990. I've bought and sold Beam and Visx for profits many times. Recently, I sold BEAM and bought LCAV, and doubled my money. I have bought Visx, shorted Visx, sold Visx, and read each 10k and press release since this stock sold in the single digits. I don't care if they have a better machine than the Summit machine. The machine Visx has is obsolete. The machine Summit has is obsolete. They both will be outclassed by the new lasers coming which are cheaper, as accurate, more durable, etc., and I'll bet you a dime to a dollar that these new laser companies will be making the same arguments about VISX as you are making about the BEAM machines now. My problem with these companies have always been the "missed" opportunity. I'll look forward to shorting Visx when Nidek or Autonomous, or whatever, puts a second or third generation laser on the table. I'll look forward to buying Visx and Summit again, at the bottom, when they purchase cash poor competitors with better machines just to stay even. I'll sell both at what I consider to be the top and buy maybe a toxic waste dump, or industrial condoms for robots - wherever the money is hiding. These two companies had a monopoly, and instead of pumping up the profits as the basis of competition, they decided to sue, bitch, and squander money and the golden position both had as a result of this totally new science. God I love true believers like you, and I love people who fall in love with their stocks even more. |
