Kerry, <<whoever controls the pipe will have significant power>>
True, but I'm optimistic that it's going to be harder for that type of consolidated power to keep upstarts down. Some of the barriers to entry that you mention as being factors in traditional print and broadcast media are radically lower, in some cases almost non-existent.
There will always be people who don't stray too far from their gateway, but there's a "word of mouth" aspect to the Web that's tremendously beneficial in terms of getting quality to cut through the clutter.
We can do this:
techweb.com
Which is one of the things that makes SI such a well-designed site. Maybe we're lucky that this is a forum that allows you some html capability, but across other topic forums people have to be doing the same sort of "hey, check this out" thing.
Also, I'd also like to propose a "National Learn How to Set the Timer and Program Your VCR Day". That meme, that people can't program their VCR's, drives me almost as crazy as the Roly-Poly commercial. They can program their VCR's, it's just that there's such a lack of patience w/ some people that they shrug it off as "I can't do that".
RE: MU...
...what's up w/ the sell-off in the p.m.? Does the Kathy Willey interview mention the President's improper use of a DRAM chip or something? <g>
Good trading,
