Michael, I'm not sure what the gay issue is all about, but suffice to say that any attempt by government to attempt to force its views on religions would be very clearly against the 1st Amendment.

I suspect that the "gay issue" is in many ways linked to another motive---the stamping out of Christian religion in the United States, in favor of the religions of Atheism and Secular humanism. These two were declared religions by the Supreme Court:

"Atheism may be a religion under the establishment clause." Malnak v. Yogi, 1977

"Secular humanism may be a religion for purposes of First Amendment." Grove v. Meade School Dist., 1985

Mr. Terrence has made his feelings known on Christianity, "the sooner this foolishness is done away with, the better". Coincidence that he should be bringing up these views in the middle of the discussion on homosexuality? I doubt it.
