Lester, sounds like you have been around for a while too! I have been watching this thread for a few months, and finally decided to take the free trial membership.

Back in 1972 a friend tipped me off to a promising new company,Applied Materials, so I bought 100 shares @ 12-13. With subsequent splits and no more buys, I would now have 6800 shares, if I had not donated some! So I get a frequent smile in reading some of the posts. On several occasions it seemed that no substantial growth was occurring, but then the price would "take off" and suddenly we were holding added certificates.

I decided years ago that provided the company was sound and was maintaining a healthy research re-investment, there could not be a more solid business. It only takes one stock like this to make up for a few bad choices. So I am decided "long", and bullish for the AMAT long term.

Forgive me if I try to communicate in English, rather than "threadize".
