Amazing!!

I finally got a chance to read over Microsoft's Visual J++ 6.0 (officially announced a couple of days ago), and I am just amazed as how Microsoft can totally ignore the concepts of Java technology! (see microsoft.com ).

Microsoft is truly taking the greatest risk of its 23 year existance as a public company by going head to head against Sun and Java (as accepted by the industry per Sun's specifications). They are betting that developers will all start using VJ++ 6.0 and therefore Microsoft's specific Java technology! I truly have no idea what the guys at Microsoft are smoking these days!

When I saw the news regarding VJ++ 6.0 I was really glad and in fact was looking forward to deploying it for my group but after reading about it (have not tested the product yet), it seems the product seems to be anything but a Java development tool designed specifically only for Windows OS! Heck we may as well continue developing in C++, why bother with Java! It is also interesting that with this release no where in their announcement they mention the name Sun Microsystems! It used to be that in the past they always placed a R in a circle on top of the word Java and then at the bottom they would say something like: Java is a registered trade mark of Sun Microsystems, but this time they have not bothered doing that! I wished I knew what they are thinking!

In any event their logic is beyond me and as a MSFT share holder I am not too happy with this latest development because this will be a definite backfire. Anyone who wants to do real Java development and uses Visual J++ 6.0 is simply a moron (no offense to anyone).
