Live Picture Adds 3-D To Web Pages LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA, U.S.A., 1998 MAR 13 (NB) -- by Patrick McKenna, Newsbytes. Live Picture Inc. of Campbell, California, claims Internet users can go to the Web, pick an image within a photograph, perhaps a camera, and take a closer look at the object. Objects can be magnified and turned in multiple directions without losing resolution. The technology is achieved through Live Picture Reality Studio.
"This product creates a new era of Web design," said Mark Woodward, vice president of sales. "You can create panoramas, zoom in and out, embed links within an image and more. And you don't have to be a programmer. Almost all of this is achieved through drag-and-drop technology.
"Imagine seeing an image of a retail store on the Web," he continued. "You can click on an item on a shelf, expand that image and look at the back and the sides of the product."
Live Studios says the new technology is perfect for such fields as real estate, travel, online catalogs, galleries and museums, promotions, and entertainment. The suite of development tools were created to allow Web site owners to deliver an immersive, try-before-you-buy experience.
In a display of Reality Studio at Internet World, Woodward demonstrated how a potential shopper could shop for a tie, select one, zoom into the pattern on the tie and even examine the threads without losing resolution.
Developers and Web page creators can download a trial version from the company's Web site, livepicture.com Until May 31, 1998, Live Picture will retail Reality Studio for $399. The price will increase by $100 after the above date.
