JF,
1) ESTIMATED at 251K by a magazine writer who had probably only a short time to research before press time.
2) Corollary, Inc has been selling 1,2,3 +.... processor Intel based systems since the early 1990s. Corollary, an Irvine, CA company headed by George White was recently purchased by Intel. Many others use and have multiple Intel processors (not necessarily in increments of two) who are not screwdriver (assemblers) shops. Sequent, UIS, DEC, et. al are not screwdriver shops. "white boxes" also are from screwdriver shops.
3) You are late to thread. I realize it is a very time consuming task to read 1000+ posts from the past couple of weeks. Most of this stuff has already been beaten to death. Too bad there is not a real convenient way for you to research "subtopics" such as the buyout. Excellent responses from all sides before we even heard from CRN or Computerworld. We have our share of savants and "flamers". But, one thing seems to be prevalent; no one really gets away with spouting undocumented or unsupported "facts" without getting called on it, no matter how assertive or self assured they might be..
