Steve, A recession could happen, but that has no part in my thinking on the boxmakers. The fact is, there are more boxes than there are buyers of boxes. That doesn't mean everyone gets hurt, but most will in that environment. BTW, Compaq stuffs the inventory channels almost every year and only the lower component prices gave them good eps this time for a change. The components are no longer declining much in absolute terms, CPQ has too much crapola in the channel, and prices along with profits and stock prices will come down. You may be right that investors will be slow to realize what is going on in this price war. But they will get it eventually and I'd rather be too early than too late on this crash to the teens. MB
