I would rather depend on SA for my longterm oil supply forcasting than barrons. Barons article is based on the short term outlook of oil while the SA article focuses on the longer term macroeconomic picture. This is saying that there is less than 3% excess capacity in the world as compared to 15% or more that existed for most of the eighties and ninties. There just arent that many more faucets to turn on. Therefore over the next couple of months oil may come under pressure but long term the price will go up as capacity constraints are met.

PS. Economists and analysts know as much about the petroleum industry as I do about brain surgery.....
