To Stich: It seems unfair to engage in debate, or even try, with someone who's political system doesn't have a constitution with a first amendment. Is it possible that the answers [admissions] you are seeking would subject someone from China to imprisonment and even worse. Without a constitutional provision prohibiting bills of attainder, his family would also be at risk. If you are correct about the current state of the Chinese political system, it's likely the answers you seek, would. Perhaps a free economy will lead to free political debate down the road. I think the answer you got was perfectly reasonable UNDER THESE CIRCUMSTANCES. A little puffing about the current freedom in China may be the price someone in China must pay to continue to engage in this most interesting economic debate on China's economy. Although new to this dialogue, it seemed to me necessary to make these points. Wallace Edward Brand
