I appreciate that Gull's style is abrasive, perhaps even ignorant, but if I may just offer my two cents.
I think we have all read, even participated on threads, that are intolerant of dissenting opinions. Often long posters, perhaps out of the money, are quick to heap abuse and insults at the contrary poster. The net effect on those threads is their degeneration into a long and unproductive series of tit for tat retorts and a polarization of participants.
IMO, its healthy for contrarian posters to freely offer their perspective without fear of personalized rebukes. Its only in an atmosphere of healthy debate that the truth, new facts, even understanding, ever finds the light of day.
If the only people who posted on this thread were supporters cheer-leading SUF through its legal difficulties and drilling activities, it would quickly become suspect, even boring.
Don't misunderstand me, I am not being critical, and I very much appreciate the impressive effort you gave in replying to Gull. I simply think it would be to everyone's advantage, especially Gull's, to put aside the baiting snipes, and offer opinions and rebutting well researched evidence to the contrary.
If we can, I would like to invite everyone to try to leave all the unpleasantness on other threads. If Gull is truly a new poster to SI and not simply an old poster who's lost his privileges and has returned under a new handle, then he may need help in etiquette. If he continues to post unnecessarily personalized comment or misinformation it won't take too long for him to get the message if everyone simply ignores him.
If he offers unpersonalized contrary perspective and/or questions a particular issue, then I say good, and I invite well researched rebuttals quoting facts such as you did Goalie.
We are all the better off for your efforts. Lets face it, if Gull had not posted his contrarian message, the rest of us would not have been the beneficiaries of all your DD.
