<<IBM permitting S. Jobs to demo their prototype chip is unusual by itself and Ole J has a way of pulling king sized rabbits out of his hat by himself .>>

Why would that be unusual? Does IBM have their own machine to demo the chip?

Back in the early days when the PowerPC chip was making its debut, there was talk of all the new Aptivas running OS/2 on PowerPC. It never happened.

Internally, Motorola phased out its Macs, dropped the StarMax and adopted Win95 PCs.

Apple is the lone gladiator in the arena and it's alleged partners are in the grandstands weeping for their hero, while lions and tigers and NTs are released from their cages.

And the crowd sat in silence, looking toward the heavens. For it was written that their savior would come down from the clouds in the form of a young boy dressed in white, and in his hand he would wield the golden bow of Justice. The arrows he would let fly went by the name of Rhapsody.

Would the crowd cheer if Rhapsody rode upon the winds of Intel?

That's what Steve Jobs has to demo to the public. Rhapsody on an Intel box with the Apple logo on the startup screen.

Too many of us in the know take for granted that most people, even Mac users have never heard of Rhapsody. It's got to be publicised.

Just like the public has never heard of Windows NT. (I demonstrated this to a compu-geek friend while walking down a New York City street - Excuse me Miss/Sir. Have you ever heard of Windows NT? NO. Have you heard of Windows 95? YES Do you think it's any good? FROM WHAT I HEARD, IT'S PRETTY GOOD? So you've never really used it yourself? NOPE)
