Bill what a story - I'm still teary eyed but I'll try to answer

It is BIG for AAPL to demo it 1st . IBM set this chip to be available in its RS/6000 first , then its AS/400s , eventually its mainframes and will make a lead up announcement Monday .

IBM is as altruistic as a hungry lion at meal time yet its act toward AAPL appears almost benevolent , establishing AAPL as a spokesman for its chip .

On the Aptiva , if IBM had made OS/2 available on the PowerPC it would have become a competitor of AAPL's PowerPC Mac .

IBM just dropped Cyrix from its downsized Aptiva (home PC) line and the absence of a IBM PowerPC Aptiva creates a opportunity for a clever partner AAPL .

Must not forget NT is derived from OS/2 and Rhapsody runs well with NT so why not OS/2 . Motorola is not a OS company and may become irrelevant to both IBM and AAPL , except for their application specific PowerPC chips .

Incidently one benefit of using a snail in AAPL's advertisement was it was so ugly it got your attention - clean suits are better - burn baby burn !
