My pleasure, Gene.

You deserve the "Mother Theresa" award for the patience you displayed
in your posts. I normally confine my posts to a couple of stocks, but
I was out looking around and was surprised by some of the things I saw. I was pleasantly surprised by your efforts to enlighten those
that want to be.

The fundamental difference in the two systems is stated in the names:
The N.Y. stock EXCHANGE and the nasdq MARKET. Maybe it is my
simple mind, but an exchange to me implies buyer & seller getting
the same price. A market, on the other hand implies (to me) that
I'm going to deal with a merchant and have a mark-up or mark-down.
Both systems have their pro's & cons. And both get a LOT of unfair flak.

IMHO, both get a lot of their bad press for the same reason: Americans have been taught that it is NEVER our fault when something
goes wrong. SO when someone buys a stock because it has gone up,
they were victims of a _____________ (fill in your favorite) who
was manipulating the market and only wanted to screw Joe the little
guy. Somehow, the fact the investor was late to the party, never did
his/her homework, has NO clue what the company really does or is really worth and is therefore susceptible to immediate panic when the
trend reverses.... NONE of this seems to be material to these "investors."

Pardon my soap box, but I get real sick of people who always
want to blame what they cannot understand.

Regards,
Doug
