Quotes,Charting,& Trading online

Joe I would like to find out how most of you more experienced traders are set up with your quotes, charting and online brokerage accounts? Here is my situation. I have mostly traded futures in the past and I have a stand alone DTN quote service for my futures quotes and charts. This service meets my needs fine for futures but you cannot get realtime stock quotes or any charts with my stand alone unit. I can switch my stand alone service to their RealTime service which would have to run through my computer. This service appears to have all the things that I would like, real time stock quotes, charting, time and sales etc. However their "free" software called the Chameleon does not have any good charting features so I would need to choose another compatible software program. The two that I think they suggest are "Window on Wall Street" and "Ensign". The biggest problem that I see from what the DTN tech help people have told me is that if I am trading online which I do, I must exit from my DTN quote service and then log onto the internet and my online brokerage account. When I do this I will not be receiving any data from my quote service which means it would screw up any intraday charts and time and sales. I don't know what else might be affected also during this lapse of service? They are telling me that you really can't run any of these programs in the background because they are such system hogs and they are using a com port. I am not a computer expert so I don't know? Again what I would like to know is this the way that most of you folks are having to operate and if not how are you doing it? Also what software is overall the best to use without being too complicated? Thank you in advance for any help to my questions.
