Well, I for one wish I knew enough to make some kind of pontification on this subject. But I don't. Too many uncertainties. I think if I were TI, I would be worried because of the unique structures and yields that have plagued them. With the projector costs up in the $6-8k region, there's a lot of room to absorb high device costs. But, these new micro devices are built a lot like memory chips, a lot of been-there-done-that technology that should make the devices a lot less expensive than the TI devices. It seems like the stage is set for a new generation of much less expensive projectors.

Having said that, though, I am reminded of the phenomenal complexity and precisions involved in the construction of color TVs. And with the passage of a lot of time, they have become almost unthinkably cheap, given the technical content. Maybe TI has the possibility of getting their device prices down in the days to come. I noticed that NEC just joined the user community for the TI devices, so there must be a case somewhere for TI not getting blown out of the water.

I don't know enough to contrast the low-temperature polysilicon micro-displays the LCoS without researching it a bit. JimA
