You've hit on one of the many paradoxes in the mining industry. Large tonnage at low yield can be just as effective a mine as high yield at moderate tonnage. Bre-X got people excited because of the purported SIZE of the deposit. There was no feasibility study that was done on it, and the price rose due to continued reports of the growing extent of the ore body. Once an ore body gains acceptance as being bona-fide then it might be analogous to - "who blinks first."
