If the test machine was not equipped with an Ultra SCSI controller, then it would not allow Jaz2 to attain its best performance. This is probably why reviews of various removable systems, including SyJet, Jaz and Jaz2, have produced differing test results. When mated with an Ultra SCSI controller, Jaz2 will be faster than SyJet, and tests have confirmed this.<<

Um, not unless the DATA TRANSFER rate off of the drive is faster, which I disagree has been "confirmed."

The classic problem with the "interface" speed is that it frequently has NOTHING WHATSOEVER TO DO WITH THE DEVICE'S ABILITY TO DELIVER DATA AT THAT RATE. You might get data from the CACHE to the SCSI bus at that rate (momentarily), but a big random read? I think not.

By the way, has Iomega fixed the problem of the Jaz2 being 20% slower than Jaz1 on the 1GB carts?
