Yes. I think people really should make up their minds early on, but for some it's perhaps not so easy. I've known gay men and women who've left their lovers because, as you say, they felt the need for a family to be overwhelming. And I've known straight people who've left their spouses for gay lovers. When children are involved it can be very tough.

As many have noted here, I think that for most people sexual preference is genetically determined; at any rate my gay friends say they knew what their sexual preference was from a very early age.

But there do seem to be legitimate bisexuals, often disapproved of by both heteros and gays for their lack of commitment. But OH NO, this one really IS Pandora's box.

In the end, one only knows, in the sense of really feeling it, how one is oneself. And so it seems to me presumptuous to judge how, or what, others might feel.
