Dear Gregor, I have never implied condemnation on an eternal basis, but in Matthew 5 He says they will be called least in the kingdom, who are they? And if we are awaiting the final destruction of Heaven and earth then to me the jot and tittle are in effect but the consequences are gone for failure. I do not sacrifice animals on Yom Kippur but I do celebrate communion and thank God for the Atonement He has made for me Himself. So I have not reduced the commands as much as others but respect your walk with the Lord to be blessed and where He wants you. I can feel the love David, Moses and Daniel felt for His word as much as you have. The New Covenant has written His Laws on our hearts and we should naturally obey them through the Spirit. However we according to Matthew 5 are not supposed to teach people that they are free to persue the flesh but take the desires of the flesh to the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world and will take it away from their lives also. To me that is bondage to never seriously take a sin you are struggling with to the Lord to be delivered from it. I tried to quit smoking every day for years and prayed every day for years (like 10 years) to be delivered from that bondage and one day it was gone, completely gone and has never even been a remote temptation since that time. That confirmed it for me that He began to set me free the first time I ever prayed and when He set me free I was free indeed and it is permanent and complete. How many people that quit on their own strength end up going back. Since that realization hit me I have used it regularly on other sins and He is faithful and gentle to heal me in His time. This is why I feel that ignoring the law will not allow us to see His standards and provoke us to come to Him in humility to be set free from that bondage of destruction that He hates. All sin to me is self destructive and as a parent would do He disciplines to stop us from that destruction. Remember He says in the OT that we are His very special treasure and in the NT He tells a parable of a woman searching all night for a lost coin and how He searches for the lost the same way. I think the Church has seen the scriptures on the law and have not understood from lack of exposure to it. The 613 minus the 10 we all know or should know are to me basic morals and how to love your neighbor and know Gods standards like: do not sleep with a man as you do a woman, if you kill your neighbors animals you should repay them, do not sleep with your fathers wife. Believe me our society would do well to read a few of these. I have had people say to me that the Bible never says homosexuality is wrong, and this one is sleeping with this ones brothers wife etc... OY VEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Church has gone to far with teaching a gentle God, He is , but His standards will never change they are a part of His CHaracter and His integrity and I don't know about you but I have confidence in His righteousness and count Him to be just and merciful and uphold His word on His integrity. I know this is way to long but I want to be able to really communicate what I mean by the Law. Thank you for listening, Nancy
