agreed. I don't think DELL is intent on acquiring anyone. After reading the two recent interviews with Michael, I am convinced that an acquisition would only cloud the purity of his vertically integrated system and create problems in the assimilation.

Possibly, if there were some technology that his consumers wanted included in their systems because it would add value to their enterprise, and if it were a unique technology supplied by only one vendor, then, possibly I think that DELL might consider it. In his HBR interview, Michael states quite strongly that he is not interested in manufacturing components; that isn't where the value added is found.

Nor do I think they are interested in a service company. Wang, which just acquired major portions of Olivetti's service sector, should do admirably for DELLs expansion overseas and at home.

No, I feel certain that the $500M debt is for new construction.
