Is everyone on this thread preoccupied with Dell? Why don't we give equal space to IBM or HP? Is this a healthy sign for Dell? Is this an unhealthy sign for Compaq? Or is the grass just greener (browner) on the other side of the fence? Until this latest stumble on inventory, Compaq was doing fine. The inventory problem sounds like one week's worth of sales. Big deal! As long as they fix the source of the problem, it shouldn't be more than a 2% hit on the year. Right?
