All, - "Compaq to offer free monitors with PCs - WSJ"
NEW YORK, March 16 (Reuters) - Compaq Computer Corp plans to offer free monitors and other accessories with its desktop personal computers for businesses, in an effort to reduce inventory at its distributors, the Wall Street Journal said Monday. Compaq said it will give away 15-inch monitors, valued at about $300 each, with its commercial desktop PCs and extend the memory promotion, which had been limited to high-end servers, to other units, the paper said in its electronic edition, citing distributors and others close to Compaq. Compaq's consumer business isn't suffering an inventory backup and won't be affected by the new promotions, the paper said. |
