Vely intelesting... It would be easier to develop a hard disk based digital VCR, but will consumers buy it? I'm not sure. You would have to make the link the analog VCR easy for those archive copies. Perhaps a Zip disk will be better.

I don't think it will fly, but that doesn't mean that someone won't try it first.

I assume that you mean MPEG D-VCRs, and not a PC with a plug-n encoder.
