Globe says firm may be revitalized to help recover investor losses

Bre-X Minerals Ltd BXMShares issued 2191033301997-05-07 close $0.09Monday Mar 16 1998See Bresea Resources Ltd (BSR) In the News The Globe and Mail reports in its Saturday, March 14, edition that a group of geologists wants to revitalize Bresea Resources, an affiliate of Bre-X Minerals, to help investors recover some of their $3 billion in losses. The Globe's Paul Waldie writes that members of the group include, John Sutcliffe, exploration manager for Ecuadorian Minerals of Scottsdale, Arizona; Benjamin Ainsworth, a Vancouver mining consultant who worked for Placer Dome; Peter Evans, former exploration manager for Kennecott of Salt Lake City; and Steven Poad, vice-president of finance of Caledonia of Oakville, Ontario. They met this week to discuss plans for Bresea. Bre-X is bankrupt but Bresea is under court protection from creditors. The geologists were recruited by a group of Bresea shareholders who want the company restarted under new management. The group, called the BSR Group of Shareholders, says investors would receive about $0.30 a share if Bresea is declared bankrupt and dissolved. They the believe the company could be worth much more if it is allowed to continue. (c) Copyright 1997 Canjex Publishing Ltd. canada-stockwatch.com
