Dial-Up Connections Without The Need for Client Software
Reliable, Scaleable Accelerator Is A Powerful Weapon As ISPs fight To Attract
and Retain Subscribers and Improve Profitability
PURCHASE, N.Y., March 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Spectrum Information Technologies, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: SITI) today announced that it is offering free trials of FastLane, a real-time software server that provides Internet Service Providers (ISPs) with a competitive advantage by speeding the delivery of rich Web content to their dial-up subscribers including those with 56Kbps modems.
FastLane greatly reduces the frustrating delays encountered during dial-up Web browsing. Based on standard Internet protocols and architecture, it provides up to three times the Web image downloading speeds achievable with standard browser technology.
FastLane is simple for ISPs to install, easy to use, reliable, and scaleable. It can be offered as a premium service to increase revenues from current subscribers. By improving subscribers' Internet experiences, FastLane helps to reduce customer churn rate. It can also be a powerful marketing tool to attract new subscribers who want faster service.
"FastLane is the first in a series of Spectrum products that will make Internet use faster, more rewarding, and more productive," comments Spectrum President and CEO Donald J. Amoruso. "To ISPs, it provides a powerful edge in the fight for more subscribers, lower churn, higher revenues, and greater customer satisfaction. To users, it offers an affordable answer to the challenge of the World Wide Web Wait -- without additional equipment expense or the need to download client software."
FastLane is a server-only product that operates transparently with standard World Wide Web browsers and servers. Based on Spectrum's proprietary Intelligent Pipe(TM) software technology, it employs Content Management Agents (CMAs) to transform in real time the data sent over an Internet connection. In addition to its data reduction capabilities, FastLane operates with and complements existing caching technologies to augment the benefit to ISPs and their subscribers.
FastLane currently runs on the Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 platform and operates seamlessly in a UNIX environment. It can be hosted at an ISP site or at the same site as the Web server, and is fully compatible with 14.4/28.8/33.6Kbps and 2X and K56FLEX modem technologies. Subscribers using 56Kbps modems can expect significantly higher download speeds for richly formatted Web images.
Trial versions of FastLane are available now for ISP testing. Spectrum offers very attractive pricing models to assist ISPs in making FastLane available to their subscribers. Depending upon ISP implementation, FastLane can be provided as a premium service for as little as $3.00 per month.
In a separate release, Spectrum also announced that it has hired Chris Wraight as Vice President of Marketing. Mr. Wraight has more than 15 years of experience in software and high technology marketing with companies including Lotus, Digital Equipment and start-up software firms. Interested ISPs should call Mr. Wraight at 508-460-5013, Ext. 17, or e-mail him at cwraight@spectruminfo.com. |
