The BBC has been requested to help warn about the
software bug
that could make some computer systems
crash at the end of the century.

An Action 2000 spokesman said: "We have asked the
BBC Director-General John Birt to devote prime-time
space to public service films about the dangers. His
response has been very encouraging."

She confirmed that the corporation planned to make a
40-minute documentary-drama about the problem.
