To All, 1. Micron and Muei report today. I had an interesting omen about them last night at Sam Houston Race Park. In the 5th race, one of the horses was named Micron Tech. I never hold a horse's name against it, as it didn't have much to do with the picking and can't change it like humans can. Anyway, MU was 4th pick by the Morning Line. I didn't like its form, so I left it out of my exotics. That booger was neck to neck with the eventual winner for 3/4s of the race, and I was cussing the curse of The Bad Boise. But it faded to finish 8th. I think today's eps report, though no matter what it is, will be touted as better than expected. According to Barron's, the consensus is -17 cents. I am looking at minus 20 cents with a lot of balance sheet deterioration hiding what should have been at least another 20 cents of losses. Analysts don't know how to analyze balance sheets any more. However, some investors do. So, expect a pop from the great unwashed and then a crash and burn.

2. Compaq began offering free monitors to business pc buyers today. Gee, that doesn't sound like good news for Gateway. The stock is probably up, though. -g-

Good luck, MB
