As long as you state your opinions are just that, opinions, then you should be fine. In other words, just add "IMO" ("in my opinion") after what you say if you are not sure how people will take it. Also, since the printed word has no inflections, add "(gg)" (two grins) after things you say that are meant in a good natured way, such as when trying to make a joke.
Of course, for obvious reasons, IMO, saying inflammatory things like "David Lawrence is a convicted felon, IMO" is still sleazy and should be avoided. Furthermore, in David's case, I can't find any evidence he was actually ever convicted (gg).
