Well, dp was trying to figure you out, which I guess we all
are. I think he pegged you pretty well, myself.

We're in a new marketplace. We're in a new one every few
months. Nobody has a clue how it will all play out.
You don't either. (I don't too.)

I think most of us here recognize that CPQ believes, and
we by and large agree, that to grow beyond a certain point
you have to enter new markets, and you have to have real,
no kidding, salable product distinction, not me too.
Hence the "tnadem junk," the VAX junk, and goodness
only knows what other junk product-distinct, no-kidding
real market distinction, non-commodity junk. You have to
leave your low-vaulted, commodity past, and make each more
stately mansion nobler than the last (with apology to
Oliver Wendell Holmes the senior--the junior can take a
flying leap off the supreme court bench for my money).

This is what
CPQ's going after, and right or wrong, you can't fault them
for big-time commitment to the ballgame. Maybe the ball won't
bounce (we're waiting with abated breath), but if it does,
it's going to bounce out of the park. And we, who own it,
as opposed to those who observe, will be richer for the
experience. Culturally, I mean of course.
