i am new to the board, i am tryin the free 30 days, but i have read the board for a long time. u guys on this board are way too hard on Mr. Koo and Nam Tai, give them some credit. they had a good quarter and a great year, that is the bottom line. u guys r just mad about the stock price, that is the bottom line. yes, nam tai could have done better on some of their releases, but the bottom line is wall street is far from perfect, in my opinion, the market lacks alot of credibility at the moment. it is BS that nam tai is tradin in the mid teens with a book of over 13 and earnings from operations of over 2 bucks in 1997. i listened to the conference call and found it pretty upbeat, Mr Koo was definitely hard to understand but the numbers speak for themselves. i would be surprised if we don't see a point gain tomorrow, i think the call was well received. as for the CFO situation, he is going to hire a partner from a big 6 firm, he is going for the best, so get the idea out of ur heads that they are playin with the numbers. they have 1 possible acquisition in the works, but they would not give a name since it is not a done deal. there is no reason to rush in spendin the 100 million, he wants to get the most he can for his dollars. their internal plan for 1998 has them growin revenues 20 % without including an acquisition, a pretty hefty goal considering the economic conditions in the world presently. nam tai made 37 cents for the quarter and $ 2.27 for the year. these numbers are earnings from operations, does not include sale of land, stock, interest, etc. usually analyst include the net of interest income/expense in their quarterly numbers, in that case, the numbers would be even higher. the bottom line is nam tai grew revenues over 20 % and earnings over 100 % year over year. if nam tai can pick up some coverage and get some mutual funds interested, the stock price will take care of itself. i think there is hardly any downside risk and lots of upside potential. this stock takes patience to own, so if u don't got any, go trash another stock, cuz this company doesn't deserve it.
