STJ or MDT buying CYBX? Interesting discussion. NCP fits well in their production line and both are heavy weights in comparison to CYBX (11% resp 1,24 % of CYBX MKT cap). May I quote FORTUNE 30 march, 1998 "The highly competitive medical-technology landscape is dotted with innovative small caps whose specialised technology makes them prime acquisition targets". They are speaking of PHYS, OSTE and ARTC, nevertheless CYBX fits well in that pattern. A buy of CYBX by MDT would be a good deal for STJ (gain of c.a. 40M) but frankly in their place I would not sell. NPC has much more future.

But the point that bothers me is to know if MDT has really a competing neurological device for epilepsy. In my opinion there may be a confusion about the device they have for PARKINSON disease. In my state of knowledge NPC is unique for the moment. Clearly this is an important point. Can anyone give me more information about this. Dennis: Where can I get the annual report of MDT that you invoked? Could you perhaps quote the statement they made in this report?

I shall try to contact a sales representative of Cyberonic Europe in Brussel this week in order to have more information about the price of the device, price of the operation and may be sales figures.

On the Webside of Cyberonics I read that there are 200.000 patients in the U.S. and over 300.000 patients in Europe and Japan suffering from refractory partial onset seizures. This is a huge 4.5 B market (350 years of actual sales). The websides contain also information about people where NPC has been implanted. May I quote: " One year after they had turned the NCP System on , I have gone from 140 seizures a month (!) down to in 14 in the entire year." Having seen myself people getting an epilepsy seizure (quite impressive) I am happy to invest in such a stock.

To David: Could you perhaps be a bit more communicative about "your sources".
