Skrieger, scarecrows are not relevant where the studies are concerned.
A simple match and some lighter fluid will bring out the carbon from the straw and add it to the nutrient compound.

I've been examining the recent additions to the original silo, and all I can say is where there's smoke, there's a scarecrow on fire.
When you a crow comes over to pick at the corn, what's a poor farmer to do? I say take some of the 1001 compound, force feed the crow until it reaches lethal toxicity, then watch it fall from the sky.

A crow will not bother crops if the crops aren't there. The crow may be coming over at the behest of another farmer, or a competitor, or most likely from someone who seeks to gain from the artificially depressed prices on the futures contracts on the Chicago mercantile exchange.

I've got my BB gun, and have volunteered to patrol the fields.
