Allen: Another thing MCI is counting on is the Japanese preference to buy Japanses.

Given a choice of two suppliers, Japanese computer manufacturers will choose MCI made drives over Iomega.

That's OK. Iomega gains a "second source" for the drives. That makes a LOT of manufacturers feel safe about puting Zip drives in lots of machines. "If there's a fire in the Penang plant, or Iomega tries to gouge us on the drives, we can always deal with MCI."

P.S. I, also, am looking forward to Comdex. My prediction is that Iomega will announce a CD-R product.
