Seiko Instruments' Smart Business Card Reader Now Linked to PalmPilot
Enables Transfer of Contact Data Between Smart Business Card Reader, PalmPilot and Popular Contact Management Software
SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 17, 1998-- Seiko Instruments USA Inc. (SIU) Tuesday announced it is now shipping its Smart Business Card Reader with enhanced addressbook connectivity, allowing transfer of contacts to the PalmPilot as well as popular contact managers such as ACT!, Microsoft Outlook '97, Goldmine, and Seiko Instrument's own Smart Label Printers.

''Using the new AddressGrabber feature, the Smart Business Card Reader can scan contact information from business cards and instantly send it to the PalmPilot desktop or your favorite contact manager,'' said Ken Hoyle, product manager at Seiko Instruments.

''And, as new versions of contact managers are released, the AddressGrabber technology enables Smart Business Card Reader users to have immediate data transfer support with the new version -- no need to upgrade their Smart Business Card Reader software,'' Hoyle continued.

The AddressGrabber technology, licensed from ProdEx Technologies of Saratoga, Calif., provides addressbook connectivity among Windows applications, and eliminates re-typing addresses that already exist in the computer.

''AddressGrabber'' also will offer connectivity to word processors, E-mail applications, Windows clipboard, Web browsers, and other applications which utilize addresses and contact information.

The Smart Business Card Reader with the new AddressGrabber technology, priced at $299, is available through Seiko Instruments' network of computer and office dealers, from leading mail order catalogs, or direct at 800/688-0817.

The Compact Convenience Products Division of Seiko Instruments USA Inc., which markets PC accessories for home and office, has headquarters at 1130 Ringwood Court, San Jose, Calif. 95131, 408/922-5800 Fax 408/433-3261. Web site: seikosmart.com.
