Immucor Enters Agreement with IBG Systems

NORCROSS, Ga., March 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Immucor, Inc. (Nasdaq: BLUD) maker of blood bank reagent systems and related products, announced today an agreement with IBG Systems Limited (IBG) headquartered in Shoreham-by-Sea, England. Founded in 1988 by Nick Stringer and Graham Smallridge, IBG Systems is a manufacturer and distributor of semi-automated blood grouping instrumentation in Europe and North America.

Under the terms of the agreement, Immucor assumes the sales, marketing, service and support of all current and future IBG products in North America. IBG presently has the only semi-automated microtitration plate reader available for sale in the U.S to read and interpret Immucor's proprietary solid phase Capture(R) assays. With this agreement Immucor also obtains the IBG North American distribution rights to the Rosys Plato system manufactured by Rosys Anthos AG in Hombrechtikon, Switzerland. The Rosys Plato system is an automated liquid and sample handling pipetting system for processing microtitration plates used by clinical laboratories.

Edward L. Gallup, President of Immucor, Inc. commented, "This agreement expands our corporate vision to become the world leader in blood bank automation by offering a line of automated and semi-automated products for all segments of the U.S. market. These products, along with our flagship product, the ABS2000 (Pending 510(k), not available for sale in the U.S.) and our high volume microtitration plate processing DIAS PLUS system, allow Immucor to offer instrumentation tailored to meet the needs of all clinical laboratory market segments."

Founded in 1982, Immucor manufactures and sells a complete line of reagents and systems used primarily by hospitals, donor centers and large clinical laboratories in a number of tests performed to detect and identify certain properties of the cell and serum components of blood prior to transfusion.
