No, Thomas, I was quite serious. There is no One Truth. Of course, from my own perspective, ignorance and bigotry are obvious when I see them, and there are Many Lies. But isn't this all in the eye of the beholder, really? My own position is that regardless of whatever your belief system is, it needs to stay clearly in the realm of belief, and Do No Harm to the larger society, where laws should be based on tolerance and compassion, with absolutely equal human and civil rights for all people.
If you want to choose to not associate with homosexuals in your private life, for example, I suppose that is your right. Of course, rudeness to people and intolerance are not gracious, and if the way you live is rude and not gracious, I would hope that you had the honesty to admit that your own personal One Truth was a hateful and exclusive one.
But when you can take your own personal beliefs and seriously argue, for example, that homosexuality is contagious and we must protect the society from the scourge, or that you have the right to deny employment to someone because he is a homosexual, or reject a homosexual child and cause misery and possibly death to that child, then I feel that I have as much right to say something as anyone else about your personal version of reality, because you have taken it and extrapolated it on a whole society.
