What were their sales compared to what they are now? What's driven business to embrace computers to the extent they have? Obviously, they are not in their own little universe, despite what they like to tell the press.
Would Sun and Oracle be successful businesses w/o MSFT? Yes, but absolutely nothing to the extent they are.
Ellison saying that he wanted to send a missile into Bill Gates living room in a recent article in Forbes is among the most infantile comments I've ever heard. And many of McNealy's statements aren't much beyond that.
