Valueman,
I am an options novice and need some help in understanding the mechanics of open interest. Yesterday the OI for LOOAD was 1723, with volume of 2010. Today the OI is 3005, an increase of 1282 with volume=0. Here is my analysis of yesterday, please tell me if this seems correct.
a. There were 1282 more contracts written yesterday than sold.
b. The 2010 volume yesterday most likely consisted of 1282 call writes and 728 call purchases.
c. More supply (call writes) than demand (call buys) may have contributed to the LOOAD price drop yesterday.

Thank you for any help,
Don
