If you have $5000, a SparcStation 5, and applications which only run under SunOS, ANY system running Solaris is not going to cut it for you. Sun doesn't offer these customers any where to go. Ross addresses this market with their upgrades. There's an awful lot of legacy code out there that won't port easily to Solaris.

As for Sun moving on to UltraSPARC, so what? They still sell more Sparcstation 5's than any other machine in their lineup. Sun wants people to believe that the entire SPARC market is moving on to UltraSPARC because that is where they make their big $$$. The fact is that they still sell a lot of Sparcstation 20's and 5's every quarter. The 32-bit SPARC market still has some life left in it. There are many price/performance points that Ross can achieve that cannot be matched by Sun with the UltraSPARC.
