I wonder how Netscape has benefited from the Java strategy. They had
their own api's (Internet Foundation Classes if I recall correctly)
and were regarded as a internet pioneer. Then Netscape sort of just
handed the ball over to Sun or Sun took it away from them (I'm not
sure which). I mean does anybody still read Andreesens tech column
anymore?

Anyways, now Sun has the java webserver and ebeans architecture in the
works. I think Netscape got fed up with Java and realized they have
been taken for a sucker by IBM and Sun.

IMO, Sun is just as much responsible for Netscape's woes as is
Microsoft.
