T. - IBM ships more metal than ever. S/390 MIPS are WAY up, revenues are fairly flat because CMOS mainframes are much cheaper than Bipolar. Look at where IBM is growing - it's the services business. Isn't that one of the main reasons for the DEC purchase? I'm not happy at the recent stock performance, but you have to give these guys a chance, it's only been a few months. The debacle at IBM went on for 5-6 years before the Akers crew was finally forced out. Nowhere near the same situation here. It would most likely never get that far. If you remember the early 90's Rod Canion (CPQ cofounder) was running things, he resisted cheap PC's and was promptly forced out by Benjamin Rosen, that was when Pfeiffer was brought in. I have a feeling that all eyes are on him from above, and the beads of sweat have formed. No more worrying about those scratches on the twin turbo, it's show time now...
