Info from Yahoo on ICVERIFY:

ICVerify is a competitor of both Veriphone and Cybercash.
You can use it at a cash register as well as on your
website. As opposed to a verifone terminal, it can
share a modem connection among several terminals,
potentially increasing throughput and lowering cost.
It is private, venture-funded, etc, as you can see
for yourself at icverify.com.

I have no idea if CYCH is really buying ICVerify, but
it would be a sensible move. A big problem with CYCH is
that you have to go get some other software to use at
the cash register, to do the same thing.

ICVerify claims more than 250,000 physical and virtual
points of sale. I presume that counts every
cash register and server, not every customer,
so their actual customer base is probably a lot smaller.
This is a tough space right now, with a lot
of competitors. 250,000 seems really low.

My take is that CYCH is going belly up, with or without
ICVERIFY, because merchants are going to stick with
who they know (e.g. verifone/hp). All those who
disagree, please buy plenty of stock because
I am going to short more of it as soon
as this little run-up is over.

Here is some commentary on ICVERIFY vs. CYCH from an ISP/integrator for ecommerce.

7.What about Cybercash vs. ICVerify?

Both achieve Real Time Online OrderTaking and Processing to Bank.

However, Cybercash is a complicated ONLINE ONLY transaction processing service. It requires both the merchantand the
merchant's Internet Provider to install a cumbersome software system. It's real-time processing functionality is limited to Internet
sales only. The concept distrusts the merchant in that CyberCash does not allow access by the merchant to customer credit
card data which is valuable to the merchant for any subsequent transactions with customers. Real-time Internet online processing
can already be achieved with established direct modem dialup software such as ICVerify. These transaction software products
offer much more than simply Internet online transaction funcionality. The transaction software permits the processing of all types
of sales: Internet Online, Telephone, Fax, Mail, and In-Person sales.
