Mark,

I look at it like this. God throughout His word is constantly telling us about the depravity of man. From the fall in genesis to the ungodly being cast into the lake of fire in Revelations. When men read the bible and feel good about their own accomplishments rather than what Christ has done it raises a red flag.

God is showing us that we in nothing without Him. Time and time again he shows us that the very best is altogether vanity and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags. In spite of this though men continue to explore and find "so called" new ways to God.

Those whom God had spoken to in the past have for the most part been idolized. But if they were walking amongst us today they would be saying "why can't you walk and talk with God the same as I do?"

God hid the body of Moses because He knew that the children would have set up a great memorial for His bones and His gravesite would have been visited to this very day. In other words he would have been idolized.

God gave the law to Moses but even during the time of Christ it had become so doctored up, so ritual, so legalistic, so manipulated, that nobody could serve God because they were paralized by the it.

Sound doctrine lets men know that they can be redeemed by the blood of Christ but rituals, feasts, religion, docrines of men and such are burdens and obstacles to grace. -Chris
