GREAT article--thanks for posting. I was not aware of this product or company prior to this. This company (Home Automated Living) is evidence of the continued evolution of computing toward science-fiction types of technologies.

That said, I think these guys have watched too many films and have read not enough business plans.

The article said:
"I can control my lights, appliances, thermostats, home theater, televisions, stereos, security system, intercoms and even my lawn-sprinkler system," Shriver said.

Controlling lights is useful. Controlling appliances is marginally useful. Thermostats? How often do you change your thermostate .. home theater? No. Television? No. Sprinklers?? No. Security system? Maybe. My point is that these guys are ahead of their time. The mass market isnt ready for this kind of thing. IMHO.
