Matt: Yes, Swatch introduced them to Australia some months ago. I have never seen the setup used in Sydney, but understand they can make small purchases. I enquired via a newsgroup what kind of chip the watch used. Can't remember the details, but it is unfortunately and definitely not FRAM. Cheers, RichardW.
