Hmmm... OK... I like that interpretation of death as spiritual death.
If we equate the serpent with the devil in the desert, then did the serpent deliver on his "promise" when he tempted Eve?
If Jesus has all rule and authority, now, does that mean that Earth and nature or not inherently evil?
