Bill, can you amplify this a bit? We're at the end of Apple's slowest time of year right now. Do you know which month was the highest revenue for Apple in calendar year 1997? June.

What could drive sales big-time in exactly the period you are talking about? Wall St., Main Street, $2000 G3 PowerBooks, the rumored $999 Artemis, and another round of price cuts on G3 desktops. Also, note that there are now high end G3s with appropriate features (double drives, etc.) that are retailing for what the 9600s did.

I think this quarter is still up in the air because of potential bad margins on all the non-G3s and the possible $30 million restructuring charge from the Dec. SEC filing, but after this one it should be a good year.

I do feel that Apple will meet estimates this quarter, and thus make more money this quarter than Compaq, which is fun.

Marc
